Tips:
1. Get an e-mail address for life!
Yahoo and Hotmail are the most popular but I'm
sure there's others that you may like.
Chances are, you may change your internet provider. I've written to many people and have had the
messages come back because they changed their
provider but forgot to change their address.
If you get a lifetime e-mail, you will never miss a message.
They are free to everyone and you may even prefer them to the e-mail program that you presently have.
I like Yahoo over Hotmail only because I've had problems getting to Hotmail at times.
2. Let it be known that you're
looking for someone!
Once you have signed up to the site, look to see if they have a message board.
Place a message asking for help in locating the person that you're seeking.
A sibling or friend of the person may read the message and help you
locate them.
3. Try searching for siblings!
It may be easier to locate a male member of the family.
This is especially helpful when doing a people search as in our "White Pages".
4. White Pages!
First search for the full name and state you believe the person is in.
No luck? Try leaving out the state.
If you don't see the name, try using just the first letter of the first name, surname and state.
Then omit the state.
You may want to try the search engine on the Genealogy page as well.
